Mekong Cycling Tour 3 Days

Leave the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City behind and drive south toward Cai Be, embark on a boat, and cruise to Vinh Long. After that, take the leisure biking along narrow country lanes, easy dirt tracks, and trails. This is biking at its best on An Binh island, passing through tiny orchards, and colorful riverside life, pedaling across innumerable wooden bridges, and pausing to chat with welcoming villagers. 

Having lunch onboard and the afternoon is free at leisure to explore the surroundings of the homestay, join the local cooking class at the homestay with traditional dishes that you can cook when you are home with simple recipes. Today’s journey is a great first impression of the ‘Heart of the Mekong’. Overnight in Vinh Long

After having a leisurely breakfast at the homestay, we depart to Can Tho, the Mekong’s largest town located at the confluence of the Can Tho and Hau Giang Rivers. 

We will discover amazing back alley paved roads with our bikes. A beautiful bike flat ride through villages where we might be lucky to see 3 motorbikes of traffic on our 18km ride. We have a lunch route and visit Son Island where you can talk to the locals and taste delicious seasonal fruits, make and enjoy the famous local “banh khot”. The lunch will be served here before heading back to your hotel for the rest.

Tonight, your guide will let you relax for dinner on your own.

You wake up well-rested to the sound of the river and get ready for another exciting day of sightseeing in the Mekong Delta. Watch the locals go about their daily work drying exotic fruits and building ships on the wooden yards. 

We will board a sampan boat to Cai Rang floating market, the region’s busiest and most lively market. Marvel at the sheer abundance of exotic fruits, vegetables, and skilfully handcrafted regional products. We will pull up to the boats to talk and bargain with the merchants. 

Come back to your hotel to check out and have lunch in the local restaurant, try “banh xeo”- a kind of cake with meat, vegetables, and rice paper. Afterward, we’ll drive towards Soc Trang. We board the boat to the mangrove forest to discover and watch the birds and natural landscapes and take a leisurely bike ride along the path. Finish in the afternoon and drive back to Saigon for 3 hours.

Note: The floating markets in the Mekong Delta are no tourist markets but wholesale markets where produce of the Mekong Delta like fruits and vegetables are traded. For this reason, the number of boats on the market fluctuates depending on harvesting seasons and market demand.
